How is everyone shaping up today?? Is anyone towing the traditional attire lane??

I am wearing a long ¾ sleeved yellow (Ankara) print top from a Nigerian Design Label called Teola 1926. It has a long split in the front. I wore it originally with a matching blue long skirt for a friends mom’s wake-keeping.This time, I switched things up a bit and wore the top as a separate and teamed it with blue jeans.

This outfit defines my current style or at least my influences at the moment.(African, Western, Vintage and a bit of Punk/Rock). I love the copper/gold hue of the Vintage fascinator and how it matches the yellow top nicely.

Lace up black shoes added a bit of a funky vibe to the outfit and also made for easy navigation. I teamed the whole ensemble with a 25 year old suede cute gold and black clutch with a long strap. It was a really lucky find from my favorite neighbourhood Vintage store in Southgate, London. I snatched it up with the fascinator in one fell swoop!

This is my version of re-inventing our traditional attire and wearing it.. For those pieces we made for traditional weddings(Asoebi) and so forth laying fallow in our wardrobes.. Get it out.. wear that lace long skirt with a white shirt.. Team your grandiose blouses with jeans.. Reuse,Recycle and reduce unnecessary shopping..

I have worn this exact outfit to church as well, the only difference is,  I PINNED THE SPLIT IN THE FRONT UP and made sure I was not showing any skin.

I am finding it quite hard to caption this outfit..Right now, I am stuck with Regal Afro Vintage.. But it sounds kind of lame..

Shall we play a game then? Whoever has the best caption for this picture would win an amazing price. I promise this is not a scam.. Give me a worthy caption and you would be well rewarded.

Competition ends Sunday evening… Write in..ezinnechinkata@gmail.com. Let us have fun!

Have a great weekend all..
