Abaya Lagos is back with another gorgeous Lookbook filled with stunning Turbans, Abaya’s and Kimono’s. Modest wear is slowly taking a contemporary place in fashion. Turbans, Kaftans and Kimono’s no longer belong strictly with Islamic traditions and cultures. It is consumed across the globe in widespread numbers amongst women of diverse religions and cultures.
Nigeria in particular has seen a widespread growth in the use of Turbans, Kimonos and Kaftans for daily wear! It ties strongly to our traditions and cultures and resounds with most religions. The turbans are a nifty and easy way of providing hair coverage for Worship in Mosques and churches as well as providing a chic form of hair coverage for bad hair days! The Kimono’s, Abaya’s and Kaftans add a new elegance to outfits for ceremonial activities or just plain everyday wear.
In this new Lookbook titled “The Urban Nomad”, Abaya Lagos is seen introducing new textures of fabrics and styles of turbans to their established moulds. They very smartly tapped into the soul of fashion in the major cities in Nigeria and created fresh and contemporary ways of adapting “modest wear”. I particularly love the kaftans with the waterfall effect, her brilliant use of floral and solid textures as well as the gorgeous braid turbans. Luxury meets elegance and glamour perfectly in The Jacquard Bou-Bou’s!! We absolutely adore this Lookbook!
In Salihat Rahaman’s (Creative Director Abaya Lagos) words, the collection is ” Inspired by the modern woman on the go; confident, comfortable yet elegant. She is the quintessential.”
We absolutely agree!! See photos below:
