Last week (25th-29th October) was the Lagos Fashion and Design Week (LFDW). It was such a great moment for the Fashion Industry. The theme for this year’s shows was “Africa- Shaping Fashion’s Future”. It saw fashion enthusiasts and designers converge at the Eko Atlantic to witness African fashion at it’s peak!

It was also a great opportunity to feel the vibe of the city through the personal style of it’s inhabitants! For the last day of the shows, I wore an outfit made from Premium Dutch Wax Fabric, Vlisco. I stopped by their store at  the Ikeja City Mall and fell in love with a Java design by Vlisco’s Suzanne Van der Aa named Aquatic leaves. It was such a light and delicate design and the perfect fabric to build on for an outfit for Day 4 of the shows.

I decided to go with a matching hat and dress. It was a bold move, but one I was excited to see play out!  I wanted a hat with disc like proportions and found just what I was looking for on running a search titled   “hats with disc like proportions” on the internet. See photo below:

I absolutely loved it! and built upon this entire idea for a very similar hat with my Vlisco fabric. See photo below:

My dress was designed and made by the really amazing Nkwo! She also showed her SS 18 collection titled Speak Love on the third day of the shows. The hat was a collaborative effort by Abaya Lagos and Christine’s Atelier. I opted for a bag by Zashadu and black shoes from my wardrobe.
