A Beautiful Convergence: Améde Arrives at Zinkata

Women’s Day is on the 8th of March.

This year, I am doing something very special. For over 13 years, right from my days as fashion editor at Genevieve Magazine …one brand has quietly stayed on my radar: Améde.

Every piece is meticulously hand dyed and printed by trained artisans. Strong, vibrant prints, easy breezy silhouettes, and slow, intentional craftsmanship. Fashion that takes time.

When I went to see her about coming into Zinkata, I noticed a framed photograph on her mantle.

“Is that your mum? She’s beautiful,” I said.

She smiled and replied, “Yes. That’s my mum. Do you read books?” she asked shyly. “You may know her. She’s the late Flora Nwapa.”

I had goosebumps.

A pioneer. A literary icon. A woman who created a path for African female voices long before it was convenient.

In that moment, everything made sense.

Art. Fashion. History. Heritage.
Intertwined.

So this Saturday, March 7th, on the eve of Women’s Day, we officially welcome Améde to Zinkata.

In addition, every purchase of an Améde piece will come with a complimentary Flora Nwapa book. A celebration of women, craftsmanship, lineage, and stories that endure. Honoring legacy 🎉🎉❤️

Come through for a truly special day in store. 🤎
