Ever wondered how people would interpret an “African Victorian themed” party?? Well, we have just the answer!! It was Ezinne Chinkata’s birthday on the 17th of August. She threw an African Victorian themed party on Sunday (the 16th) for family and really close friends. ..with little or no notice..Most of the attendees interpreted the theme as best as they could from their wardrobes.. Fun times!..
View Photos below.
Ezinne’s outfit was custom designed by Odio Mimonet…
We love Mrs Elizabeth Jibunoh’s outfit pictured below.. She gave the theme a resounding interpretation!
Mrs Joy Chiori was all understated elegance in an embroidered Kaftan.
Mrs Comfort Eze’s panelled dress and grand jewellery had quite the right African Victorian echoes! We love!!
The Amadi-Obi’s lit up the room with their bright smiles.. They brought a really happy vibe to the party and looked beautiful!!
More Fashion..Yes please…
Ejay and Ceejay Jibunoh !! Don’t you just love Ceejay’s interpretation of the theme?? Love the riding boots and the added Ankara Touch; light blue ankara print Cravat. Ejay was a rebellious Victorian belle in a gorgeous piece by FIA.
We were all agog at Cleopatra Robinson’s apt interpretation of the African Victorian Look… Perfection from head to toe..
Kindly zoom into the bag… Speeechless!!
Hang on guys!! It’s Monalisa Chinda!! The Nollywood star had the best coiffure interpretations by miles!!It automatically placed her right smack in the theme…Gorge!
We are quite obsessed with Ugochi Omonode’s brown clutch.. .. It lends her structured cut-out maxi by FIA a really quaint air and would fit right into any era.. Hers was quite an effortless look. We love the coral beads!
We are not quite sure how Victorian Chioma Frederick Eze’s outfit was.. but we were certainly up for the cohesive fusion of Western and African influences. Her glittery blue hat by Ene Maya perched at a jaunty angle gave her ensemble by FIA a nice spin!!
Fifemayo Aiyesimoju was heard proclaiming thus: “I came as an African Victorian man”! Err..We sort of totally see where she was going with this…
Adebayo Oke Lawal had a modern re-endition of the Victorian theme with pieces from the orange Culture collection and a surprising twist with the denim top..
How cute is Vonne Nwosu’s print against Bayo Oke Lawal’s… She’s equal parts whimsy and equal parts seductress in scarlet red with tulle and coquettish flower garlands..
..amd one of our fave designers Uju Offiah, Creative Director of Meena looked gorge in a Pata-pata Ankara dress from Zinkata over a sheer navy blue sheath.. Spot the quaint bag??
The Gozel Green Identical twin sisters (Sylvia and Olivia) looked super haute as well..
and Emmy Kasbit took the traditional George fabric a notch further.. We love his coat and shoes..
We love Mpho Laing’s interpretation!!Her sleeves lend her outfit a restrained Victorian elegance.. while the Ankara prints gave it a refeshing African twist… sort of reminds us of the 1985 movie starring Oprah Winfrey, “the Colour Purple’.
Ihuoma’s jacket has a distinct Victorian cut.. and it’s Ankara!!
Nnenna Ukadike proves that a classic look remains timeless.. The classic stripes and simple cut of her maxi could easily be from any era.. with the hat..err “The African Victorian Gypsy??”!
Latasha Ngwube’s outfit was quite literal.. A Victorian high-waist shirt, matched with an Ankara African wrap.. It worked perfectly!
Funmi Daniels and Onah Nwachukwu both look great in their graceful maxis, victorian accessories and grand bearing..
and Onah and Dimeji Alara below in sheer classic all black.
…and for more maxi’s.. We absolutely love Zedeye’s modern African Victorian look..Her black sheer dress with lace detailing is by Ukulele from Zinkata!! She teamed it with an underlay (ankara wrapper) Genius!!Impeccabe and Absolutely stunning!!
..Isioma’s high neckline and voluminous skirt was another African Victorian favourite from the night. The cool grey tones were a great shade for her skin and we love the braided updo!
Ezinne says to Kayo Ezenwa “I absolutely love your dress” .. and Kayo responds with a smile” Oh thank you”.. We absolutely love it..so subtle yet still carrying the theme right along.. and she tied in the African theme with the beads.
Kaka and Fred cut a really dashing figure together… We particularly love Fred’s pants and shoes.. and how cute is their colour co-ordination?/
and some of the men went rebellious.. I suppose Obinna Chinkata came as a Sheikh..Albeit a really cute one…
Moses Ebite came as a…??? Please tell us, Moses.. In his defence, he came right from an old school party… and .. We find his outfit super cool..
We love Fred Eze’s fusion of blue sneakers, hat and traditional wear.. His entire ensemble tied in quite interestingly with the theme of the party…
Julius Sea brought a Kingly vibe to the game.. We love the gold accents on the hat!
I am so gutted we can’t get hold of a full length view of Wale Adetugbo’s outfit.. He had the most amazing Akara peg trousers on.. He was the quintessential African Victorian gent.!!
