The Lagos Fashion and Design week is upon us once again!! A great initiative which highlights African Fashion, placing it on the map globally… where it rightfully belongs. It also fosters the growth of the fashion industry through various initiatives..

I am beyond excited.. It is easily my best part of the year..

What to Expect

Expect Fashion….in all its beauty..abundance and paradoxes. From the intense strut of the models on the runway..

..right through to the thoroughly blinding flash of the paparazzi, the front row doyens.. the eager bloggers..the anxious designers.. the fashion editors and socialites.. All out in droves..

Imagine a space filled with fabulous fashion, fabulous music and fabulous people.. Getting excited? Did someone just say After-party? That too!

Designers and Shows..

The Designers: The  designers express their art and the ethos of their brands via their collections at the shows.. while  the budding new talents are given some sort of formal rite of passage, through mentorships and tutorials, via the Young designers initiative.. A great place for  potential buyers to  spot great new talent and fresh designs…

The Shows: Year in and year out, different designers show during Lagos Fashion and Design week in outstanding designs and cutting edge styles..  From sporty silhouettes to luxe evening wear to the androgynous silhouettes.. One word/thought stay with me through the shows…”Colour“.. The designers have mastered the art of playing with different hues and intensities, to project various subtleties..There is a very interesting line-up of designers.. It would be quite fun to spot trends and see how far some designers strayed or stayed.. from their last collections..

There are no rules..Wear comfortable shoes.. Except you can totally endure icky shoe situations.. Here are some keywords you could work with for dress codes: Afrochic, Boho, Gothic glamour, Eclectic, Sporty silhouettes, Minimal, Full on glam looks…
