I had a great time shooting the images for this post. The structured contemporary black dress and strappy heels was in stark contrast to my surroundings and activities. Yet it worked.I guess you could say it was a charming juxtaposition.
In reality, I believe it is an apt portrayal of living in Nigeria/Africa. A complex combination of Traditional culture and Western practices and depending on where you find yourself the latter or former could be the dominant factor.
Even in the most developed areas, the glitz and glam is like a false window dressing masking our true realities: bad roads, no electricity and a lack of basic amenities. The rich are super rich whilst the poor are quite impoverished.
In all this, I love my Nigeria with a huge encompassing passion and only hope things keep getting better.. While being the change I hope for ever so fervently.
