Traditional weddings are such a delightful event/experience.. Nigeria has different cultures and traditions spanning throug the vast geographical zones..
Last weekend, I had the pleasure of travelling to Owerri in Imo State (Eastern Nigeria) for the traditional wedding of Ifeanyi-Onu Wogu and Chioma Eke. Ifeanyi is a really dear cousin and I was super excited to go witness him wed his lady love..
Unfortunately, I missed some of the exciting bits such as the bride’s first outfit ..and finding her groom in the crowd.. All so quaint and very romantic.. but still ..I managed to get some pictures!
The picture below captures the grooms dad praying/giving the couple his blessings.. It is usually quite an emotional moment at traditional marriages..
The bride’s Dad, Mr Eke, blessed/prayed for the couple as well.. See image below..
Another major highlight was the cake; Shaped like a calabash and bible, a healthy mix of cultural traditions infused with religion (Christianity).
Ifeanyi and Chioma cut their cake. On a side-note?? How gorgeous is the bride!! She is so pretty!
The entertainment was live!! We had really fit dancers dressed in interesting “warriors” outfits..
The groom with the dancers:
Wondering what guests wore?? I managed to get a picture of the friends of the couple :
and pictured below is yours ever truly in a beaded Ankara Dress by EreDappa, accessorised with Coral beads..
Little Chiemeka broke all the ladies hearts in his darling traditional attire!! Mine included.. He happens to be my godson (proud God-mother moment)!!
Selfies reign supreme.. Even at traditional events..
