Hello my remarkable Zinkata readers.. It’s the end of the week and I hope you all have had an amazing week full of productive work etc… Mine has been quite eventful.. In todays’s post, I shall be highlighting the use of similar Ankara prints to create a visually appealing profile.
Wearing two different prints is a trend that has come to stay but still one that is quite difficult to pull off. While some dare-devil fashionistas can pull literally any prints off and tie it in with their accessories and devil may care attitude, others may not find this trend quite as easy. Hopefully this post would inspire you to tread with a little less caution.
The easiest way to mix prints is by mixing prints with similar colours.. Let’s say for example you have a black and white polka dot top and a black and white zebra print skirt. They would most probably look not too far off if you were to wear them together. Today’s printing exercise would start off with mixing very similar Ankara prints together..
Do you have two different Ankara fabrics with red and blue as the predominant colours?? They would probably mix well together. In the photos below, I am wearing an Ankara play-suit by Kinabuti and an Ankara Print shirt by Ituen Basi. They both have different prints but quite similar colour palettes and so not too far apart.. Wearing them together created a nice harmony and they almost look like they were bought as a one-piece..

I hope this helps.. Please write in with your style questions…
