Styled By Zinkata: My Wow Magazine Covers

May 14, 2015 | Fashion

Last week Thursday, I went down memory lane and recapped on my covers whilst working as Fashion Editor of Genevieve Magazine.. You can read all about it : HERE

This week, I shall be taking you even further down ,with my Wow Magazine days..  I was the fashion Editor of Wow Magazine.. Julie Odia (Publisher of Wow) trusted me implicitly and we had such an interesting journey churning out covers and amazing fashion content…Those were the true good ole days!!! I was rebellious.. I was younger.. I was green! I was churning em out!!

I remember one of the first covers I styled for Wow.. It was quite a sexy one.. lensed by Kelechi Amadi Obi with Uche Jumbo wet and suggestive on the cover in a white shirt… It caused quite a stir..

I also styled Eku Edewor in the really early days.. She was slightly new on the scene and super cool… We shot it at her mom’s lounge in Ikoyi ..  Eku was in a really awesome dress by  Bridget Awosika … Long before the transparent/mesh  trend caught on.. I remember how hell bent we were on the Pin curls for her hair…It really was “THAT”  important!! Photography by Moussa Moussa.

Eku wow

Tiwa Savage also graced the Wow covers.. She had on a custom made body suit by Toju Foyeh.. Makeup by Banke Meshida Lawal and photography by Kelechi Amadi Obi

I particularly loved Ini Edo’s cover.. She is wearing a play-suit by Meena.. and it was shot by Kelechi Amadi-Obi

Ini Edo

Mercy Johnson closed down the streets for our Christmas edition. I remember I pulled the Body con dress from Tiannah’s place.

Nike Oshinowo and Damilola Agbajor’s cover was quite an exciting one!! Two beauty queens totally working it!! Nike wore a really smart Tuxedo from Designer’s club while Dami was in Marlene Birger.. Also from Designers Club.

Nike-Oshinowo-439x600We also had models on our cover..Most of the girls were from the Beth Modeling Agency. We had Chika,Doyin, Marcia, Isio, Opeyemi, Sola, Banke and Bukola.. They all looked really great in all black..  I remember  a lot of research went into this cover.. I wanted them to be positioned really nicely.. Kelechi Amadi-Obi was such a sport.. and Banke Meshida Lawal did an amazing Cat eyed look on the girls!

Nse Ikpe-etim and Bryan Okwara covered our Summer issue.. They sizzled in swimwear!!

Mocheddah and Chika Emmanuel were quite SOMETHING in pieces by Viv la Resistance.. Shot by Moussa Moussa.

Tonto Dike’s cover was a majorrr moment for us at the time.. We got the dress shipped in by a designer from Dubai called Rahil Hesan of Warda Haute Couture . It weighed more than 5kgs and was super stunning!! Photography by Kelechi Amadi Obi

My throwback  ends pretty sadly with Goldie’s cover.. Goldie has long since passed on and I still miss her very much.. She ditched her blonde locks for this cover and is wearing a dress by Toju Foyeh.. Lensed by Moussa Moussa… May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace…

Have a fantastic Thursday all…

and remember to stop by Zinkata for amazing pieces for the weekend!!!
