Hello all, I trust you all are having a remarkable Sunday. Mine started off pretty early. I worshipped at an Anglican church for 8 am and had a really great time in the Lord’s presence. My outfit to church was all hand picked from Zinkata.
I tucked in a pink t-shirt from my wardrobe into a navy blue full skirt by Peridot, available at Zinkata.A print cocoon coat by The Ladymaker also from Zinkata sealed the entire look off.

The Sermon
It’s Pentecost Sunday and today’s sermon was themed: The Gifts of the Spirit.
Jesus promised the disciples that he would send the holy spirit to be their comforter. The holyspirit came upon them on the day of the Pentecost to set them free and also empower them. This can be read up in Acts Chapter 2: 1-21
Verses 1-8 :
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues[a] as the Spirit enabled them.
5 Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. 6 When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. 7 Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? 8 Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?
The pentecost day fulfilled the promise made by Jesus.
Acts 2: 32-33 : “God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it. 33 Exalted to the right hand of God, he has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear”.
The holyspirit is the secret of God’s power.
It gives us :
1.The power to live a life that pleases God
2. The power to live a life above sin
3. The power to know the truth.
4. The power to be free of sin’s dominion
5. A strengthened inner man
6. The wisdom to pray correctly
7. A powerful prayer life and not a chaotic one
The Christian life must depend on the holyspirit, our protector and comforter. As Christians we should seek to receive the gifts of the holyspirit. The two verses below sort of illustrates the importance.
Ephesians: 3:16
“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,
Roman’s 8:26
“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans”.
The preacher also went ahead to expand on actions we need to take to help us receive the gifts of the holyspirit:
a. Consume the word of God/ Internalise the word of God (Read your bible)
b.Pursue God’s face continuously. Be in the presence of God often.
c. Abide in him. John 15:5:“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
d. Love one another
e.Believe in the promise of the word of God (Faith)
Our Lord Jesus sent us the gift of the holyspirit to comfort and guide us. I pray we all seek the face of the Lord deep enough to understand the importance of the holyspirit and the spiritual nuances of the world.
