When a little waist coat becomes public offender Number 1

As you all may already know…I absolutely love fashion…

Once the style appeals to my innate nature, is comfortable and makes me feel “uniquely” grand, it shall be worn (Irrespective of warring opinions). Well, to be completely honest, I bow in deference to my mom’s FASHION BENCHMARKS…sometimes. Especially when she wrinkles her nose at my teeny weensy shorts. At this point you may well be wondering where all this is headed?…Soon my dears!!
With deep passions, comes impulsive behavior and dare devil attempts. This is a true reflection of my relationship with Fashion and style. I constantly conjure exciting ideas and images in my head, and plunge headlong, immediately trying them out!! Most times they work, and sometimes it gets “slightly awkward”… Which makes it so much more exciting, perfect is boring, no?

It was on this faithful day, I had to dash into the Genevieve (Magazine)office to attend to fashion matters on the Styletitude desk…

What to wear: I whipped out my red and white floral multicolored vintage blouse, teamed it with a short formal skirt, black waist coat and black pumps. My hair was styled in a mini rock quiff. A quick once-over in the mirror left me slightly uncomfortable with the waistcoat, I shrugged the feeling off. Just as I was getting into the car, I took a picture. I do this quite often, Flagrant self-obsessive behavior.. #sigh..

Verdict: The top and skirt totally worked, the waist coat spoilt an otherwise effortless look and put me in “’air hostess uniform/costume” mode (too fussy). In this particular moment, less was most certainly more.

Solution: I yanked the waist coat off my silhouette faster than a cat on steroids, tucked in the blouse and wore the outfit without the waist coat!

Lesson: Sometimes, a single Accessory sends an otherwise perfect look into total ‘AWKWARDNESS”. Although I often wrinkle my nose in disdain at rules, some basic ones always hold true. It is always best to look dressed up without appearing like you tried really hard…

Life is beautiful.

Stay Blessed, happy, and super duper Fab!!!!!!
